Blue Zone

“Being a member of the Braga Ranch team has allowed me the opportunity to continue to work, beyond my first retirement, with a purpose. I love being able to contribute my commercial vehicle knowledge in order to promote and maintain a safer work environment for my co-workers and the public. My position also affords me the freedom to move throughout my day, increasing my activity levels. Since produce is our main focus, we continually sharing recipes amongst each other to encourage healthier eating.”

“The introduction of the blue zones project to Braga Fresh, has been an eye opener for me. It has allowed me to make a better effort to take care of my self, like balancing the stresses of daily life. And it has introduced more exciting food options into my diet. I always thought vegetarian options were tasteless and bland and the blue zone recipes are far from that; many are more flavorful than meat-based dishes.

Blue zone has reminded me that we need to take time for ourselves and to live with purpose. It has realigned my focus on the bigger picture of life and has reminded me to not let little things slow me down.

Overall, I believe the blue zones project has a lot to offer people; it is a way to not only be healthy physically, but most importantly mentally. “

“Braga Fresh becoming a Blue Zone Project approved worksite has allowed me to train for my upcoming half marathon while at work. Before I had to make time out of my day to get my steps in, but now I can do it at work since I am encouraged to move throughout the day.”
