Today the Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) posted information advising people not to eat specific sizes and dates of Josie’s Organics and Fresh Thyme fresh organic baby spinach. We are working with both agencies and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on an ongoing investigation. You can view the announcements here and here.

The products involved with the safety alerts are Josie’s Organics, Organic Baby Spinach and Fresh Thyme Organic BabySpinach, both plastic containers with Best if Used by date of October 23, 2021, or older.

This safety alert has been issued due to one container sample, testing positive for E. coli 0157:H7 in the government agency’s investigation efforts around a cluster of illnesses in multiple states. Because the sample product tested was three weeks beyond its “Best If Used By” date it should no longer be in grocery stores. We have not been advised to recall or withdrawal any products from market.

What Should You Do?
• To locate the Best if Used by date: Find on top, center label of plastic container.
• If you still have the product listed above with the Best if Used By date of October 23, discard it.
